Join us on an introduction to sea swimming and dipping session for people who want to get started or build confidence in the water. This is an informative session covering pre-swim preparation, equipment, environmental considerations and sea/weather conditions.
This is open to all swimmers, whether you’re interested in dips or distance, wetsuits or ‘skins’ (though you must be at least a recreational swimmer – minimum requirement).
The session will take place at Southbourne or Branksome and lasts around two hours. This will include a 1.5 hour talk about kit, sea/environment, risks, safe swimming and a Q&A session, then a short swim/dip and all-important cake! There will be up to 6 participants per coach at the session.
Please dress appropriately for the beach, including warm layers for after the short swim/dip (inc gloves and a woolly hat!). For the swim, either costumes or wetsuits – your preference. Wetsuit boots/socks and neoprene gloves recommended at this time.
Next steps: book on this page, selecting the appropriate date above. After booking a spot on the session, we will be in touch with further information. You must complete our registration form – you can find a link to this on the booking confirmation page.
Following the session, you can join our Wave 23 social swim pod Facebook group, for arranging social swims, other Wave 23 organised swims and all things sea swimming!
In the case of inclement weather, this session will be postponed.
