Swim with us
Find out more about our open water and pool swimming lessons for adults below. Our group swims (unless otherwise specified) take place in Bournemouth bay, usually at Southbourne Beach. Please email us at hello@wave23.co.uk to find out more and book. After joining us, swimmers can join our Wave 23 social swim pod and find out about our regular social swims, special event/guided swims such as pier to pier swims and night swims, and sea swim with us all the way through the year.
In the Pool:
Adult Front Crawl workshops
Our front crawl pool workshops run for 5 or 6 consecutive weeks on Thursday evenings in Southbourne, from September through until May. Do you want to improve your front crawl technique in a friendly, relaxed environment with like-minded people? All abilities welcome, from beginner through to advanced/triathlete. Our next pool workshops commence on the following dates: 16th November, 8th January, 26th February, 16th April. Email us now for more information and to book.
Swim & Social
Once a month we hold a Friday night swimfit session at the BCS pool followed by drinks at a Southbourne pub. The next one is on 28th November at 8:30pm - swim and then raise a glass or two with your Wavey friends! Swimmers are split into groups: Leisurely, Steady and Swift, so you can take it at your own pace. Email us now for more information and to book.
Adult swimming lessons
Available as small groups or 1 to 1s. Various locations available, with lessons bespoke to each swimmers needs. Also available as sessions for children. Current availability: Bournemouth pool - Mon 27th Oct, Tues 28th Oct, Weds 29th Oct between 2 and 7pm. Blandford area pool - Tuesdays 4th Nov to 16th Dec 10am -1pm. Endless pool, Christchurch - well suited to video stroke analysis, get in touch for options. Contact us to create your own experience.

In the open water (BACK in 2026):
Front crawl and open water skills
Join other like-minded swimmers at our weekly sessions in the sea. In these sessions, we work on open water confidence and skills such as sighting and buoy turns, elements of front crawl swimming technique, and aim to develop your abilities with distance and pace. They run on Tuesday evenings, you must be able to swim 400m and you must be in a wetsuit to join these sessions.
Race Ready
Develop proficient race skills at our Race Ready sessions, for those wanting to practice for swimming/triathlon/swimrun events. They will include racing elements such as sighting, drafting, turns, swimming in groups, water entries, as well as including a longer swim. They run on Tuesday evenings, you must be able to swim 400m and you must be in a wetsuit to join these sessions.
LAKE swimming
We offer 1 to 1s and beginner group sessions on Saturday mornings at Ellingham Lake. We can help with your stroke, familiarisation with the open water environment and wild swimming confidence. Get ready for your triathlon/open water swim with us!
sea swimming and dipping essentials
Sea Swimming and Dipping Essentials is a one-off informative session, lasting around two hours, for people who want to learn more about swimming in the sea, with a talk on the beach covering pre-swim preparation, kit, environmental considerations, sea/weather conditions and a Q&A over a hot drink and some cake, ending with an optional dip. These sessions take place on the last weekend of the month and cost £35.

We offer private sessions - one to ones, two to ones or for small groups of friends - tailored to your specific goals and aspirations.

For CHILDREN: SWIM SAFE
Wave 23, in conjunction with Billy Lardner's Legacy, are excited to have brought back Swim Safe to Bournemouth in 2025 - free water safety sessions created by Swim England and the RNLI for children aged 7 to 14, teaching essential skills for staying safe in and around open water. We plan to run more Swim Safe sessions in Summer 2026, watch this space or find out more at swimsafe.org.uk.
